Meet the Makers Lunch with “First Of March”
London, UK
We’re delighted to invite you to join us for a special lunch to meet the makers of “First Of March.”
First of March is an online gallery showcasing, celebrating, and advocating for world-class craftsmanship from Wales. It was founded on three Welsh pillars: Hiraeth, Hwyl, and Cynefin. As Grove of Narberth’s newest partner, First of March will tell a contemporary story of Wales that will surprise, delight, and inspire.
Enjoy a glass of Velfrey Vineyard sparkling Welsh wine on arrival, followed by a 3-course lunch in our beautiful Artisan Rooms Brasserie.
During the lunch, you’ll enjoy a unique opportunity to meet four of First Of March’s award-winning designer makers.
Martin Duffy – Sculptor: Known for his figurative and animal sculptures, Martin has showcased at the Royal Welsh Show, RHS Chelsea, RHS Rosemoor, as well as the 2012 Olympic Games. His work is sought after by both local and international clients, and recently featured on S4C and the BBC.
Angela Farquharson – Sculptor: Working in both porcelain and bronze, Angela’s portfolio of work includes both classical forms and larger, more organic pieces that have graced the Royal Welsh Show, Doddington Hall, RHS Chelsea and RHS Rosemoor. Last year her work was featured on both S4C and the BBC.
Ruth Shelley – Glass Artist: Ruth won the Worshipful Company of Glass Sellers award at the prestigious British Glass Biennale in 2015. Her unique glass collections are rooted in her connection with the landscapes of Wales – her designs are redolent of the colours and tones she finds in the wild spaces and gardens of Wales.
Mari Thomas – Metal Artist and Jeweller: Known for her collections of precious metal jewellery, Mari trained as a metal artist and has recently exhibited with First Of March at Collect 2025 in Somerset House, London. Former winner of the Gold medal for Craft and Design at the National Eisteddfod, Mari was recently shortlisted for a Heritage Craft Award by the Heritage Craft Association.
All guests will be seated on social dining.
