We’re delighted to share that Grove has partnered with First Of March, an online gallery that shines a light on the very best of Welsh craftsmanship. Together, we’ll be showcasing a curated collection of beautiful artisan pieces here at the hotel, another way for us to celebrate the makers, artists and craftspeople whose work is inspired by this special corner of the world.
Founded by Ruth Davies in 2019, First Of March connects Welsh talent with audiences across the globe. From sculpture and jewellery to glass and ceramics, every piece carries with it a story of landscape, tradition and heritage. At Grove, we’ve always been passionate about supporting local artistry, so this partnership feels like a natural extension of what we love to do.
Meet the Makers Lunch – Friday 14th March
To mark the start of this collaboration, we’ll be hosting an intimate Meet the Makers Lunch on Friday 14th March at 12pm.
Guests will enjoy a sparkling welcome from Velfrey Vineyard, followed by a three-course lunch in our relaxed Artisan Rooms Brasserie. Between courses, you’ll meet four incredible makers and hear the inspiration behind their work:
- Martin Duffy, celebrated for his figurative and animal sculptures.
- Angela Farquharson, porcelain and bronze specialist.
- Ruth Davies, vibrant glass artist and founder of First Of March.
- Mari Thomas, jewellery designer and 2024 Heritage Craft Award finalist.
It promises to be an afternoon of creativity, conversation and great food.
