Things to do in Pembrokeshire

There’s plenty to see and do during a stay in Pembrokeshire, from walking the Coast Path and spending time on its beaches to exploring historic towns and villages, discovering local food and drink, and spotting wildlife along the coast. One of the things we love about Pembrokeshire is its variety. From Grove, you’re well placed to explore both the coast and countryside, with the beaches and coastal towns of south Pembrokeshire, the Preseli Hills and the wider Pembrokeshire Coast National Park all within easy reach. For dramatic coastal scenery and wildlife, head towards St Davids and the north-west coast; for beautiful beaches and seaside towns, explore Tenby, Saundersfoot and Barafundle Bay.

It’s difficult to choose just one, but Solva, Porthgain and Newport are among our favourites. Each offers something different, from pretty harbours and coastal walks to independent shops, galleries and places to eat. For a classic seaside day, Tenby is hard to beat, combining beautiful beaches with a historic walled town and picturesque harbour. Saundersfoot has a more relaxed feel, centred around its sandy beach and harbour. Both make a wonderful day out from Grove, as do the smaller coastal villages of Solva and Porthgain.

There are plenty of things to do in Pembrokeshire on a rainy day. From Grove, you could explore the independent shops and galleries of Narberth, visit a castle or historic house, discover local crafts, settle in for a long lunch or enjoy Afternoon Tea at the hotel. For something a little different, our Guest Experience team can also arrange a coastal sauna, while our in-room spa treatments offer an excuse to stay cosy.

Some of Pembrokeshire’s best experiences don’t cost a thing. Walk the Coast Path, explore its beaches, wander through towns and villages or discover the Preseli Hills and surrounding countryside. Many of Pembrokeshire’s most beautiful landscapes and coastal viewpoints can be enjoyed without an entrance fee, making it easy to spend a day exploring before returning to Grove.

Start with a coastal walk or morning at the beach, stop for lunch in one of the county’s towns or villages, then spend the afternoon exploring a castle, garden or wildlife spot. With more than 50 beaches to choose from in Pembrokeshire, it really depends on the kind of day you’re after. Barafundle Bay is a favourite for its beautiful setting, while Freshwater West is popular with surfers. Tenby and Saundersfoot are ideal for combining a beach day with cafés, restaurants and harbour-side walks.
